Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture mover. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November 17th in
1978. Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel became involved with
acting as a teenager and, by 13 she was performing in Shakespearean
performances at the summer theater camp. She later was able to graduate with
distinction with a BFA degree in Theater at York University. After making her
television debut in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel appeared
in Canadian television's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy drama follows the
struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. She won an award called the Gemini
Award for her performance in 2003. Her first big role was in Mean Girls (2004)
as Regina George instantly landed her in the top tier of Hollywood's list of
young actors. After that she starred alongside Ryan Gosling as the romantic
drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). The
Notebook was a huge success at the box-office and became the most loved
romantic comedy with a young audience. McAdams and Gosling became lovers during
filming and continued to date up to the middle of 2007. McAdams then showed her
range in the screen with the raunchy comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the action
thriller Red Eye (2005), as well as the holiday drama The Family Stone
(2005).McAdams then explored the independent film world through Married Life
(2007), which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and also featured Pierce
Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. She also starred in the military
drama The Lucky Ones (2007) as well as the newspaper thriller State of Play
(2009) as well as the romantic drama The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) was
followed by her role with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's
international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the plucky
producer of Morning Glory (2010). She also was the fiancee with a materialistic
character Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams
returned to romantic drama in The Vow (2012), which she co-starred with
Channing Tatum. McAdams stars in Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder (2012)
alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma's action thriller
Passion (2012).
